CBLK: ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE

In our globalized world, learning English as a Second Language opens doors to new opportunities and cultural connections.

At our school, we recognize the importance of creating a supportive and dynamic environment where students can thrive and grow in their language journey. That is why Bilingual classes at Colegio Bilingue Lerner & Klein are not just about learning English from an external source, they are all about understanding and experiencing the language from a more natural and cultural way. Our English program includes different approaches to create a holistic learning within its subjects of L.A, Grammar, Anglo Saxon, and Exams preparation. It is uniquely innovative within the LK framework because it centers on culturally responsive teaching, student-driven learning experiences, and real-world language practice, all of which empower students to become confident and capable communicators.

Bilingual classes incorporate texts and media from a variety of cultures, allowing students to see their own experiences reflected and gain insights into others’ perspectives.

Some classes are project – based learning which foster greater motivation and create a meaningful learning. Students participate in community-based activities, such as cultural celebrations (Saint Valentine´s, Easter, Saint Patrick´s day, English Festival) from different countries to practice English in authentic contexts.

The ethical foundation of our English classes emphasizes empathy, cultural appreciation, and community engagement, guiding students to use their language skills in ways that benefit themselves and others. The different events and celebrations we hold, help students understand and appreciate various cultural traditions. These celebrations encourage a sense of community and provide opportunities for students to practice English in a meaningful context. By participating in these celebrations, students not only practice their language skills but also contribute to a more inclusive and supportive school environment, reflecting the program’s commitment to social responsibility and cultural understanding.
